The residents at Apsley House Care Home enjoy making the effort to celebrate VE Day every year, and this year was no different. A traditional British afternoon tea felt like an appropriate accompaniment. Decked out in Union Jack hats and flags everybody enjoyed a fantastic selection of cakes, biscuits and other treats. Amongst them was the quintessential British dessert - victoria sponge! This absolutely delicious cake was topped with a huge helping of lovely seasonal fruit - and unsurprisingly there wasn’t a single slice left over!
Afternoon tea was followed by a bit of music and much merriment, with the residents having the opportunity to exercise their vocal chords and flaunt their wonderful singing talents during a sing-a-long of ‘Songs That Won The War’. A fantastic time was had by all of the staff and residents at our care home in Bognor as they celebrated VE Day and paid their respects to those involved in securing that historic victory.
